A mobile unit is a bus modified into a medical clinic driving in the streets of Cairo and meeting street children. Hunger and thirst are everyday life for these children and a snack from the mobile unit may be their only meal for the day.

Bandages and medicine for the mobile unit 5€

 The staff of the mobile unit is trained to carry out minor health care treatments as street children have a lot of scratches, bumps, skin diseases and infected wounds.

A pair of shoes for a street child 10€

The small feet without shoes that we see on the streets are often full of wounds and
scratches. Infections caused by the wounds, if left without proper treatment, may cause 
several serious health problems.

Clothes for street children 20€

Street children usually sleep in places that are very dirty

so their clothes become dirty and get torn quickly.

Workshop material 50€

In our workshops, street children learn how to work. They also learn that it is better to earn money by working than begging. In these worshops, many street children get a spark of interest for an occupation or entrepreneurship.

One goal of the workshops is to give the children their self-confidence back.

A layette for a young street mother 75€

In addition to their mother's love, children need clothes and accessories. Diapers, bottles and other baby care products make it easier for young mothers to take care of their children. These products are very expensive in Egypt and therefore we support the mothers and their babies by donating a layette or a maternity bag for the mothers. The maternity bag is purchased for each mother-child-pair individually to make sure that the clothes are of the right size and the accessories suitable for the baby.

Salary for the workshop teacher 100€

In our workshops, older street children and street mothers also learn skills of craft. The workshops produce candles, baskets, carpets and jewellery. The worshop participants get a small financial compensation for the products they make which can be saved and used later to start up their own business. In order to train older street children and street mothers to become independent craftsmen, the workshops need skilled 
professionals to teach the worshop participants in these crafts.
